THE CHOCOLATE BOX BLAKEMERE
Blakemere Craft Centre, formerly the stables to Blakemere Hall, now housing the courtyard shops, are all that remains of Blakemere Hall, built in 1878 for Mr Barclay Pagett. The stables were built in 1890 and were designed to accommodate coach and riding horses. King Edward VII, then Prince of Wales, often visited Blakemere where it is claimed that he enjoyed many notoriously wild parties. In 1940 the Government commandeered the premises to accommodate Polish refugees and later German prisoners of war. Unfortunately Blakemere Hall was demolished in 1950. The Chocolate Box is one of the shops within the courtyard of the remaining Edwardian stable block.
The Chocolate Box offers a vast selection of continental chocolates, American jelly beans and traditional delicacies that you probably thought were no longer made, together with an excellent range of exclusive jams, preserves, biscuits and other fine foods. Also on offer is a range of delicious ice creams made on a local Cheshire farm. Enjoy either a scoop with real melted chocolate on top or choose from a wide range of take-home packs.
Since 2006 the Chocolate Box has been able to offer a full balloon service – choose from individual foil or latex balloons to purchase during your visit or you can pre-order for special occasions, parties, weddings etc.
Pretty wedding ‘favours’ can also be made to order to your individual requirements.
